Appointment of Major James Greville Stratton
as a
Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire

Citation
Major J.G. Stratton has been Brigade Major 25 Tank Brigade from August1943 to the present date. During the whole of this time and particularly during operations in Italy from May – December 1944 his work has been outstanding and has been a very important factor in the successful operations undertaken by this Formation.
During the move and planning stage for operations with 1 Canadian Division in Liri valley a very heavy demand was inevitably made on Major Stratton’s energies and ability and his work in connection with that battle earned the special commendation of the Army Commander. Subsequently throughout operations when the Brigade served under a number of Divisions and was at times split between different Divisions and Corps Major Stratton’s work has been exceptional and his careful liaison and work with a large number of different formations has been of the highest order and has been a weighty factor in ensuring happy relations between the Brigade and the many Divisions under whose command it has fought. The great success of the Brigade in Operations could not have been achieved without his excellent work.
