to
Serjeant Edward O'Hare, 21st May, 1943.

Citation
   On 26 April 1943 Serjeant O'Hare commanded a tank in Lieutenant Michael Pope's Troop which operated as the right forward tank of 'B' Squadron on the final attack on LONGSTOP HILL. During this action he showed great coolness and skill when dealing at the same time with two enemy machine-gun nests, one of which was to his front and one to his rear.
   Throughout the engagement this Troop accounted for seven machine-gun nests and on 88 m.m. anti-tank gun and great credit is due Serjeant O'Hare for the exemplary way he carried out Lieutenant Pope's instructions.
   Hi Troop Leader reports that he displayed great initiative, daring and resource and that his determination to reach the summit of the RHAR helped very largely to the success of the operation.
   Serjeant O'Hare's conduct greatly inspired his crew.
