Churchill Tanks - Photographs and Names


7th Battalion Royal Tank Regiment, on being called upon to send Churchills to Korea, selected 'C' Squadron so to do. Personnel sailed from Southampton on transport Empire Fowey arriving at Pusan on 12.10.50 where they awaited arrival of their tanks.

By all accounts the Churchills performed well without loss except for a Mark VII and an a ARV self- destroyed during the evacuation from Seoul. The remains of the former can be seen in the photograph below.

As during WW II, tank names all began with the letter 'G'
'C' Squadron: Garry  George  Glynis  Gynaelator etcetera.
