Into Battle with the Jewish Brigade - March 1945
-
On Sunday, 4th March, with 'A' Squadron in support, the Jewish Brigade took over the defence of Alfonsine front and Mezzano area. Following two weeks of infantry/tank training, on Monday 19th March, 'A' Squadron carried out a reconnaissance preparatory to an attack the following day. The first four photographs are of Churchills Na75s and Mark VIIs laying down harassing fire on enemy positions, grouping and simultaneous firing being used to confuse the Germans as to the numbers of guns firing at them. The next three photographs are of one of the attacking Mark IVs being recovered after sliding down a steep bank of soft sandy soil.
