EDITORIAL CHINWAG

We open this edition, the first since the conclusion of hostilities in Europe, with an open letter. It is addressed to all those of the Crew whole left us recently when the call came for their services with S.E.A.C.

"Brother Mustang, We should like, on behalf of all the Mustangs who have remained behind, to wish you the very best of good luck in your new venture. Wherever you may be and, whatever you may be called upon to do, we are sure that, as always, there will be that cheerfulness we all know so well. Stern times lie ahead of you so remember always, that no matter how tough things may be, inevitably there will come again that shaft of golden sunshine, so infinitely sweet. Sooner or later (the former we hope) will see you all back once again in Dear Old Blighty. Until that day of reunion we ask you to write regularly to tell us how things are going with you. Until that happy day then, we once again wish you the very best of good luck. May God keep you in His gentle care.

Yours very sincerely,

The MUSTANGS"

Let us all think for a moment and, in thinking, let us realise that the way ahead is still strewn with razor-edged rocks. We still have a long way to go before we reach the goal of universal peace. We must not let things slide now, there is and must be, still that sense of urgency which the ex-Prime Minister instilled within us when he promised us naught but "Blood, tears and sweat." Once we find that Peace we must hold it, grasp it firmly with two hands and never let it go. For the sake of mankind we cannot commit ourselves to another war. We must foster that peace by friendship - international friendship - we members of the great Scout Brotherhood and, those who follow us, have a noble duty indeed in fostering that friendship.

We have struck a serious note, but that must be - even so, we wish you, for the future, Happy Days.

Yours in Rovering,

Gerry
